Miranda July talks ‘Satisfaction,’ TV, NYC
In this wide-ranging interview with Gothamist, multidisciplinary artist Miranda July talks DVD rentals (she’s just not that into Gossip Girl, though clearly on board with Mad Men and Friday Night Lights), New York City (where she’s in town for a sold-out speaking engagement for The Brainwave Festival) and the progress on her next film project, Satisfaction.
Based on her multimedia stage performance, Things We Don’t Understand and Definitely Are Not Going to Talk About, July said that casting was just about done for Satisfaction, and the film is “about to be shot or ready to be shot.” Things We Don’t Understand—heavy on audience participation—was “radically changed” by July in the screenwriting process. She’ll also direct and star in the project, which revolves around a young couple (Donnie and Fiona) involved in “a classic love triangle.”
