1. Trailer: John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph in ‘Away We Go’

Director: Sam Mendes.  Screenplay: Dave Eggers and Vandela Vida. With Jeff Daniels, Catherine O’Hara, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Allison Janney, and Paul Schneider. Scheduled release: June 5, 2009. (via Coming Soon)

There’s a lot to chew on here.  The u-turn taken by Mendes at Revolutionary Road.  The second screenplay from Eggers to hit screens in 2009 (along with Where The Wild Things Are). The inevitable cooing over Krasinski’s baby face gone bearded and bespectacled. The veteran cast, wherein C.J. Cregg continues to find work (and cheers to that). There’s also the troubling Fox Searchlighty packaging job (though this is a Focus Features release).

But the real story here is the co-headlining spot for Rudolph. If Away We Go accomplishes nothing but to thrust the resurgent comedienne into steady, top-billed screen-work, it’s a big fucking deal.
